The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Volunteer Program

“The world is sustained through Torah, worship, and acts of loving kindness” Pirke Avot 1:2

Chizuk Amuno's Gemilut Hasadim volunteer program offers opportunities to work with Baltimore area social action programs to support our neighbors and community members in need.

Since the program's founding in 2000, hundreds of volunteers have worked with dozens of organizations in Baltimore and the surrounding areas.

Some examples of our work include:

  • Cooking meals for children and families at Ronald McDonald House
  • Packing and delivering "blessing bags" full of toiletries and other necessities for homeless and housing insecure individuals
  • Knitting blankets, hats, and scarves that have been delivered to unhoused people, people receiving cancer treatment, foster youth, and babies at Chizuk Amuno and beyond
  • Collecting books, clothes, baby items, and school supplies for children and families in need
  • Sponsoring two refugee families from Afghanistan and providing them with support to acclimate to their life in Baltimore through our Welcome Circles.
  • Tutoring students who are behind grade level in reading through our partnership with Reading Partners

And much, much more!

If you have questions about any of our Gemilut Hasadim activities, would like to get involved, or have a community partner or program that you would like to suggest, please contact Jayne Gerson.
