Each year we fulfill the mandate from the prophet Isaiah, “Is this the kind of fast I desire? … It is sharing your bread with the hungry!”
When we hear these words chanted on Yom Kippur we are cognizant that so many in our community are facing hunger. At Chizuk Amuno we strive to provide hundreds of pounds of food to local Baltimore agencies working with those who are food insecure. This year’s Food Drive is in memory of Carl Love z”l. The food collected will benefit Weekend Backpacks which provides food for vulnerable, food-insecure children for when school is not in session. Carl was a homelessness liaison in Baltimore County and devoted his life to helping children.
A complete list of items needed by Weekend Backpacks can be found here below shortly.
