Marlee Matlin: Academy Award-Winning Actress and Activist
Marlee Matlin is an actor, author, and activist who became the youngest recipient of the Best Actress Oscar for her film debut, Children of a Lesser God. In addition to her new, groundbreaking film CODA, Matlin’s credits include Reasonable Doubts, Seinfeld, The Practice, Law and Order: SVU, The West Wing, and Quantico. She also performed in the Tony-winning Broadway revival of Spring Awakening.
Deaf since she was only 18 months old, Matlin works to raise awareness for humanitarian causes, disability rights, and hearing health for millions of deaf and hard of hearing children and adults in developing countries. Matlin’s autobiography, I’ll Scream Later, was a New York Times bestseller.
