From January 1979 through January 2025, Dan Rodricks wrote more than 6,600 columns for The Baltimore Sun—a remarkable 46-year run believed to be the longest-standing local column in the nation. Beyond his prolific newspaper career, Dan has been a familiar voice and face on Baltimore radio and television, as well as the creator and host of The Sun’s first podcast, Roughly Speaking.
An accomplished author and playwright, Dan has published three books and written a series of acclaimed plays inspired by his reporting, including Baltimore, You Have No Idea and Baltimore Docket. His newest work, No Mean City: Baltimore 1966, will premiere at the Baltimore Museum of Art in 2026.
