New Policy for Late Openings due to inclement Weather

In order to better accommodate families and coordinate building usage, when our schools need to open late, both KSDS and GECEC will now state (hotline, e-mails, WBAL) that we have either a 9 a.m. start or a 10 a.m. start. We will no longer use “one-hour” or “two-hour delay” as our plan.

When a 9 a.m. start is announced:

• Doors will open for KSDS and GECEC at 8:30 a.m. for early drop-off.
• MS students will walk up to lockers at 8:40 a.m. and LS students will walk to classes at 8:50 a.m.
• GECEC students will go to classes at 9 a.m.

When a 10 a.m. start is announced:

• Doors will open for KSDS and GECEC at 9:30 a.m. for early drop-off.
• MS students will walk up to lockers at 9:40 a.m. and LS students will walk to classes at 9:50 a.m.
• GECEC students will go to classes at 10:00 a.m.

On late-start days, carpool drop-off will run as follows:

• If you have only KSDS students, you will drop off at the Berman entrance, as normal.
• If you have only GECEC students, carpool drop-off will be at the GECEC entrance.
• If you have KSDS AND GECEC students, you will drop off at the Berman entrance. There will be GECEC teachers there to greet your child(ren).
• As always, you are welcome to park in a designated parking spot and walk your child into school.
