Chizuk Amuno Congregation

Our Programs

For children eighteen months through five years of age, our preschool program uses active learning to promote cognitive, social, emotional, physical, creative and Jewish development. Our children are given the opportunity to observe, explore, create, and experience through our child-centered curriculum and nurturing environment.

Because children learn by interacting within their environment, our classrooms are designed to challenge them at each developmental stage, balancing academic structure with creative social interaction. The beauty of Judaism and its traditions surrounds our children.

Our developmentally appropriate curriculum includes Hebrew language, music, Jewish education, language development, dramatics, story time, Shabbat and holiday celebrations, physical education, science, cooking, and creative arts. Preschool Programs

We offer two semesters of preschool programs, September – December and January – June.

Kiddie Klass

(ages 18–24 months, with a parent)

Our Kiddie Klass is an adult accompanied program that allows you to enjoy the first preschool experience with your toddler. Share a special time as you and your little one participate in music, art, rhythm, and movement. We will explore child development in an informal setting and discover the world of Jewish songs, customs, holidays, and traditions.

Days and Times: You can choose the Tuesday class or the Thursday class. Classes meet once per week from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

2s, 3s, and 4s

Children ages 2 through 4 are learning to separate home and school, follow a routine, interact with others and explore letters and numbers. When we play with blocks, we count and talk about colors, shapes, and numbers. When we read, we talk about letter sounds and words. We naturally integrate learning into play. Chores around the classroom give each child a sense of mastery and responsibility.

Days and Times:

  • Twos have the option of participating 2 days per week from 9 – 11:30 a.m (without lunch), or 3-5 days per week from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Threes can participate 3 or 5 days per week from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. or 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Fours meet 5 days per week, either from 9 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. or 9 a.m. – 3 p.m, with the exception of Hebrew Immersion, which is a full day.

4s Hebrew Immersion

Our Hebrew Immersion program is a unique full-time program for our four-year-olds. Your child will have 15 hours per week of readiness, social interaction, specials and play. During the other 15 hours, our Hebrew educators will present Jewish holidays and our core curriculum units through Hebrew Language.

Days and Times: Class meets 5 days per week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

K-5 (Gesher)

For students whose birthdays fall late in the year, and who are not quite ready to enter a kindergarten classroom, K-5 gives them the gift of time. Students learn to take on responsibility, as they complete required projects and choose electives each day.

Days and Times: Class meets 5 days per week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Early Drop Off and Late Stay

We do all we can to accommodate working parents. Early drop off is at 7:30 a.m. and late stay is available until 6:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Fridays until 5 p.m.

Summer Camp

GECC Summer Camp is an 8-week, theme-based program that runs from June through August for children between 18 months and 5 years of age. The camp session features sports, drama, art, music, cooking, nature, water play, and Shabbat within a creative and caring Jewish environment. Each camp week is filled with spirit and has a theme that emphasizes a Jewish communal value and a commitment to the Jewish people. Highlights for the children are our weekly “specials” that correspond to the week’s theme. Our dedicated and responsible staff is carefully selected for their skill and experience working with children. They help create a lifelong love of learning and Jewish living.

Summer camp features a Kiddie Klass and programs for 2s and children age 3–5.  (2020 Camp Application Available Here!)

Enrichment Programs

Kiddie Karate is an introductory martial arts course. Classes include kicking and blocking, drills, balance, eye-hand coordination and eye-foot coordination, and other strength promoting techniques. Students
will gain self-confidence, flexibility, and discipline.

Soccer – Soccer Shots
Sessions are designed to creatively introduce your child to the sport of soccer. Character development, physical skills, and fun are guaranteed. Each session incorporates soccer skills, games, word of the day, exercise, coordination, balance,
and agility development.

Yoga – Soulful Eruption Yoga
Blending yoga and storytelling, this class uses myths, folktales, and multicultural stories to explore our bodies, minds, and hearts. Each class will focus on one story and include character warm-ups, story meditations, and community building.

Gymnastics – United Gymnastix
Our program is a fun and creative way for children to explore the joy of gymnastics. This program encourages the natural desire to play while being instructed how to direct physical
and mental energy.

Tennis – JCC
Munchkin 3 – 5 years. Our tennis program is all about having fun and learning basic tennis skills in the process! We use the Quick Start Tennis program, with smaller racquets, lower nets, and slower balls. This allows children to learn the skills and gain coordination quickly. Our Tennis Director, Adam Stein has run the J’s program for 16 years and teaches every class.
