This six-week mini-course continues to offer participants the opportunity to read and discuss selections from Amy-Jill Levine and Marc Z Brettler’s newest entry into the Jewish/Christian conversation. The Bible with and without Jesus guides the reader through well-known passages from the Tanakh that were also important to the writers of the New Testament, passages which Jews read as the story of Israel and the Jewish people, while Christians see in those same texts the story of Jesus Christ and the Church. The Bible with and without Jesus is an eminently readable book that challenges Jews and Christians to replace a history of caricature and polemic against the other with one of understanding and mutual respect.
Since the book will be our main text for study and discussion, we ask all participants to please purchase a copy. If you did not join us for Part I, please know that you are welcome to join us for Part II, as each chapter we study is a self-contained unit and explores new themes in Jewish and Christian traditions.
