We’re going back to the beginning with the Mishnah’s first tractate. Perhaps one of the most important Jewish books ever written, the Mishnah was the text through which Judaism was reinvented after the destruction of the Second Temple. New and returning students are most welcome, texts will be taught in English, and Hebrew will be available for those who wish.

Ever felt like you wanted to connect more deeply with communal prayer, but it felt impenetrable? This Double Feature course will explore the morning service liturgy and construction in detail, diving into the themes, history, intertextuality, language, interpretation, and melodies of the prayers in order to draw out deeper meaning and personal connection. While you won’t learn how to say the prayers, you will leave having gained a greater understanding of them.
