Here at Chizuk Amuno, we are fortunate to have a vibrant community of families with younger children - the Young Families of Chizuk Amuno, or YF of CA. As a Young Families community, we come together regularly for Shabbat services and lunches, holiday programs, social events, and more!
Please join us for one of our upcoming programs - they're a great way to meet other families, share special times together, and be welcomed into the greater Chizuk Amuno family.
For more information about YF of CA programs and events, or to share a suggestion, please contact Rabbi Marci Jacobs Aronchick, Director of Teen and Family Engagement, at bWFyb25jaGlja0BjaGl6dWthbXVuby5vcmc= or 410-486-6400 x305. I'd love to hear from you!
YF of CA Events and Family Programs
Join us as we share Shabbat together. There's something going on for families nearly every week!
Torah for Tots - Shabbat mornings - 10:30 AM
Torah for Tots is an interactive family service for children up to age 5 and their grown-ups. Singing, dancing, snacks, stories, and so much more! T4T meets on the 2nd and 4th Shabbat of most months, as well as Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
Upcoming T4T meetings: February 28; March 14, 28; April 11, 25; May 9, 30.
The Family Service - Shabbat mornings - 10:30 AM
Join us most every Shabbat for a lively service geared toward families with school-age children. Children have the opportunity to put their learning into practice by leading parts of the service, learning new melodies, and exploring Shabbat teachings and stories.
*Each week after services, we come together for Kiddush and open play time in the gym. Once per month, we also enjoy a festive Shabbat lunch together! Upcoming Shabbat lunch dates: February 28 (together with the congregation); March 14; April 11 (together with the congregation); May 30
Over the course of the year, we'll gather to celebrate these special times on the Jewish calendar with engaging, meaningful programs for the whole family! Here's what's happening this year:
Let us feed your kids as we enjoy dinner, songs, and Purim fun before we join the congregation to hear the Megillah read to celebrate the holiday.
Pesah Prep Family Workshop - Sunday, March 22 -
Join us for a morning of activities, learning, and fun as we explore ways to make our sedarim fresh, exciting, and family-friendly. Whether you’re hosting seder or a guest at someone else’s, this workshop will give you wonderful ideas for making your seder an unforgettable one year after year!
Shavuot Sit-In - Sunday, May 24 - 10:00 AM
On Shavuot, we celebrate receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai. This Shavuot, we'll come together for stories, interactive learning, and a dramatic re-enactment of Matan Torah, the moment when the Jewish people received the Torah. Then, we'll join the congregation to hear this passage read from the Torah, and celebrate the bounty of the season by bringing bikkurim, fresh fruits and greens to decorate the bimah.
In addition to our weekly services, we have a number of opportunities for families to come together in celebration of Shabbat - dinners, Havdalah events, and more!
Family Shabbat Dinners, Fridays, March 13 and June 5, 5:30 PM
Shabbat is even more special when we celebrate with old and new friends. As a Young Families community, we'll come together for a delicious Shabbat dinner, followed by family-oriented services filled with story and song.
