Today the website launches

Launching a website is nothing like finishing a new brochure. When you finish a new brochure, it arrives from the printer all clean and shiny. If things have gone well, you bask in the warmth of a job well-done for a few minutes then you move on to your next project.

A website is a work-in-progress. You launch it into the world and watch the way it evolves and changes as people interact with it. This is especially true when you build participatory tools into the website, as is the case for Chizuk Amuno.

So what will happen? Will people enjoy interacting with the website? Will the Rabbis take to blogging? (It actually looks like they already have.) WIll our home-page picture feature and prayer wall grow and prosper?

A few weeks ago I did a member-sermon at the shul. One thing I said was that Jewish values would evolve in the new media age, but that the core mandate of being a Jew would not. I'm proud that Chizuk Amuno has been so self-confident as to set out on these uncharted waters. Now we're about to see where the voyage takes us.

P.S. If you haven't seen the prayer just posted on the prayer wall by Rabbi Shulman on the occasion of launching the new website, please check it out. It's really wonderful.

Mark, Mazel Tov and Yasher Koach on a job well done. The Officers and Board are most appreciative of you and your team's effort in launching our new web site. May we go from strenght to strength as we enter the New Year. See you in shul.

Exciting!!!!!!!!! For our synagogue to thrive, it must be participatory, interactive, and engaging. Our new website is a GIANT leap in that direction!! Thank you so much for spearheading this project.

I cannot agree with Mark any more. This new interactive website should not only enable synagogue relationships to develop but the website will become an influential force in advancing Jewish values in our community.

What a fantastic website. I have looked at other synagogue websites, and I haven't seen one as engaging or cutting edge as this one. What a wonderful way for our congregation to start the new year!
