Melton Program
The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School (FMAMS)
FMAMS introduces learners to a broad spectrum of Jewish knowledge through an integrated, sequential course of study, in an atmosphere of warmth, respect, and understanding. Classes meet once a week, thirty weeks a year for two years. Each session consists of two one-hour classes, with a break for refreshments and informal discussion.
Requirements
If you are seeking a real connectedness to Judaism, and if you want to incorporate that learning into your daily life, then the Florence Melton Adult Mini-School is the right place for you.
Curriculum
The FMAMS curriculum is designed for adult learners seeking a dynamic, interactive means of forging a closer link to their Jewish heritage and community. The curriculum is written by a team of scholars and educators at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, guided by the vision of Florence Melton.
There are no prerequisites, grades, or exams. Upon completion of the two year course of study, graduates receive the Hebrew University Certificate of Jewish Study at a graduation ceremony.
Faculty
Members of the faculty are experienced teachers who hold advanced degrees in Jewish studies.
Class Times
Day and evening classes are offered beginning each Fall. Classes meet on Sunday mornings, Tuesday mornings and evenings, and Thursday mornings and evenings.
Foundations of Jewish Family Living
A new curriculum for parents provides a thought-provoking encounter with core values of Judaism. This rich learning experience will provide an opportunity for you to take the Jewish conversation home to share with your child.
